Premiere: “Bartender” by Bug Martin

Bartenders wear many hats–server, artisan, psychologist, bouncer, and in the case of Philadelphia-based roots man Bug Martin‘s new single, sweet patron saint.

“Having spent what feels like immeasurable time on both sides of the alehouse counter, I have realized two truths by which one must abide; be kind to strangers, and always stay one step ahead of your bar tab,” says Martin of the inspiration for “Bartender.”

“Bartender, bartender tell me what else is new, I just got myself a new case of the blues,” Martin laments as he asks his attentive friend-for-the-moment to pour him a double. As he sings of his woes over pedal steel sounds and tinkling banjo strums, Martin draws us in, engaging us across campfire flames or under the lightning bug glow of a friendly front porch gathering. He tells the story of the everyman, the regular folks who deal with life’s struggles, and who sometimes find solace in a shot glass.

Without further ado, Mother Church Pew proudly presents “Bartender,” the new single from Bug Martin:
